HLS Letters
HLS to Cornelia and Lewis, 9-28-47, 8 days after getting married, describing the event:". . . Back to the history. After our Boston trips we started our three days wait. Carol spent her time by buying all the clothes she could while she was still living on her father's income. As a result, she is one of the best-dressed Harvard wives. We were married Saturday morning, about eleven (the fashionable hour, I think) in the Jamaica (Queens) courthouse. Carol's mother, father, sisters Elsie and Marcia, and Elsie's husband Stanley Fried were there. After the ceremony there was a small family dinner at the airport and we flew up here for our one day honeymoon – at the Parker House. Sunday we moved out here to Mrs. Childs' apartment. Monday was Registration Day and Carol started work."
